New series "Kaedegami" starts in Weekly Shonen Jump

With today's issue 30 of the magazine Weekly Shonen Jump, the publication of Harukawa Jun's new series Kaedegami begins.

The plot unfolds as an Eastern-inspired mystery and adventure story. It revolves around supernatural beings called Shinkai, who have always been feared because they disregard human rules, dominate and consume humans. The protagonist is the orphan boy Kou, who lives secluded in the mountains together with the enigmatic Shinkai Shiyu. Shiyu always wears a mask, and Kou harbors the desire to one day see him without it and laugh together. However, an attack by another supernatural being brings Shiyu's painful past to light.

On the occasion of the series' launch, a dedicated promotional video has been released.

Further news from issue 30: The series Embers, written by Kurumagetsu and illustrated by Nishii Soutarou, concludes in this issue. Volume 2 of the collected chapters will be released on August 4.
