New short film series Lycoris Recoil: Friends Are Thieves of Time unveiled-episode motifs and events announced

At AnimeJapan 2025, a new short film series for the popular anime series Lycoris Recoil was announced. Titled Friends Are Thieves of Time, the six episodes will feature lighthearted, everyday scenes from the lives of Chisato and Takina, set in Café LycoReco. Starting April 16, each episode will be released every Wednesday at 21:00 via the producer’s official YouTube channel and other streaming platforms.

Additionally, a pop-up store will open from April 25 to June 1 at the Kinshicho Marui department store in Tokyo, offering exclusive previews of episodes 3 through 6. Furthermore, the LycoReco x Sumida-ku: Big Discovery Tour! event will launch on April 25 in the Sumida ward. The event includes collaborations with local sentō bathhouses like Kogane-yu and Oshiage Ōkuro-yu, a revival of the popular 2022 sightseeing boat tour, and a special radio program that will be broadcast exclusively on the Tōkaidō Shinkansen line.

The released key visuals highlight the humorous and relaxed tone of the short films, which focus on the interpersonal dynamics of the characters. The illustrations feature, among other things, Chisato indulging in her love for sweets and Takina in her typically pragmatic pose—a contrast that defined the original series.
