On the website for the anime Junji Ito Maniac: Tales of the Macabre, a new teaser was revealed a few days ago. Along with the video, five new stories were also unveiled, namely "The Story of the Mysterious Tunnel" (Tunnel Kitan), "Mold" (Kabi), "Layers of Fear" (Kyōfu no Jūsō), "The Thing That Drifted Ashore" (Hyōchakumono), and "Back Alley" (Rojiura). This new adaptation of a selection of short stories will be released on Netflix on January 19, 2023, and will consist of 20 episodes.
The team working on this new adaptation of the characters created by Junji Ito includes Shinobu Tagashira, the director of the Junji Ito Collection adaptation, who is once again directing this project at Studio DEEN.
