The upcoming animated film »Doko yori mo Tooi Basho ni Iru Kimi e« (also known as »Dokokimi« for short, internationally as »To You in the Beyond«) has released a new main trailer and a fresh key visual. At the same time, four additional voice actors have been announced, expanding the already star-studded ensemble.
Sumire Uesaka voices the role of Tamaki Mishima, an exemplary class representative at Tokishima High School. Wataru Hatano lends his voice to the good-natured and sincere Shuji Aiba, while Nobuhiko Okamoto can be heard as Akimitsu Yano, a friend of the protagonist. Yoshitsugu Matsuoka takes on the role of Yoshiki Suga, who is hostile toward the hero.
The main roles are played by Yohi Ishibashi as Kazuki Tsukigase and Anna Nagase as Nao Akika. Other contributors include Kamiya Shinya as Mikiya Misaki, Hiroshi Tamaki as Takatsu, and Naohito Fujiwara in a guest appearance.
The film's theme song is provided by singer-songwriter Tota – her song »Olive« follows the previously announced insert song »Balsam«. Tota commented that the title is associated for her with concepts like peace and rebirth.
The story is set on the remote island of Tokishima. There, the withdrawn boy Kazuki one day discovers an unconscious girl at the so-called ›Karakami-no-irie‹. She claims to be from the year 1974 – and between the two, a mysterious summer story unfolds, full of nostalgia and hidden truths.
Direction is by Junichi Wada (»HIGH CARD«), with the screenplay written by Sayaka Kuwamura (»Josee, the Tiger and the Fish«). Character design and overall animation direction are handled by illustrator Hechima. The animation is produced at TMS Entertainment, with distribution by Shochiku. The film already had a preview screening in July at Anime Expo in Los Angeles.
The film opens in Japanese theaters on October 9, 2026. An international theatrical release will be announced at a later date.
