On Wednesday, the official website for the upcoming anime film "Kitarō Birth: The Mystery of Gegege" released a new trailer and introduced the main and supporting cast members. The film, set to premiere in Japan on November 17, adds another chapter to the long-standing legacy of Shigeru Mizuki's iconic series.

The film boasts an impressive lineup of voice actors. Toshihiko Seki voices Kitarō’s father, who eventually transforms into Medama Oyaji, while Hidenobu Kikuchi portrays Mizuki, a company employee on a secret mission in a cursed village. The cast also includes:

- Atsumi Tanezaki as Sayo, the daughter of Otome and Katsunori
- Yumiko Kobayashi as Tokiya, son of Kanoko and Kenji
- Tetsu Shiratori as Tokisada Ryūga, a politically influential patriarch
- Nobuo Tobita as Tokima, Tokisada’s firstborn son
- Yoko Soumi as Otome, one of Tokisada’s daughters
- Yuko Minaguchi as Hinoe, another of Tokisada’s daughters
- Masaya Matsukaze as Yamada, a journalist investigating Kitarō’s story
- Umeka Shouji, reprising her role as Neko Musume from the TV anime
- Akira Ishida as Kenji Nagata, Kanoko’s husband
- Rie Kugimiya as Kanoko Nagata, Tokisada’s daughter
- Kazuhiro Yamaji as Katsunori, Otome’s husband
- Kazuya Nakai as Kōzō, another of Tokisada’s sons

The film is directed by Gou Koga, with the screenplay written by Hiroyuki Yoshino. Character design falls under the creative direction of Touko Yatabe.

The film is one of four major projects commemorating the 100th anniversary of Shigeru Mizuki, who passed away in 2015. Another project is the new anime "Akuma Kun", which will premiere on Netflix on November 9.
