The animated film “GROTESQQQUE – Grotesque” by director Atsushi Nishigori (“Darling in the Franxx”, “The Idolmaster”) and Studio CloverWorks has received a new trailer and key visual. The film will be released in Japanese theaters on November 6, 2026. The producers announced this on July 5. At the same time, the band METALVERSE was introduced as the performer of the opening song “Shoot Shoot Shoot” (Label: VERSE BY VERSE MUSIC).

The film combines three self-contained stories set in different worlds: In “A(E)liens,” the alien friendship ambassador Elie teams up with the official Kento Kunihira to search for friends on Earth – a slapstick comedy. “Yoroshiku★Girl” takes place in the eternal night of GALs TOKYO, where girls fight in a deadly battle royale game called Queen of Butterfly. “Nocturne: Kono Grotesque na Yoru ni” tells the story of the pure-blooded vampire Ayame and three surviving girls who travel through a desolate world in a station wagon after the downfall of humanity.

The episode direction is shared by Nishigori (“A(E)liens” and “Nocturne”) and Takahiro Miura (“Yoroshiku★Girl”). The main characters are voiced by, among others, Kana Ichinose, Gen Hoshino, Sara Minami, Ikumi Hasegawa, Saori Hayami, Maaya Uchida, Chika Anzai, Miyu Tomita, Rumi Okubo, Rie Kugimiya, as well as Nogizaka46 members Miku Ichinose, Nagi Inoue, Nao Tomisato, and Aruno Nakanishi. A total of 35 artists contribute music to the film, including ASCA, Reol, Junna, Taku Inoue, and many more.

The film will have its world premiere at the Fantasia International Film Festival in Montreal (July 16 to August 2, 2026). Originally announced for 2025, the release has been postponed multiple times. Pre-sale tickets featuring motifs from the three short films will be available from July 10, 2026.

The production is handled by JOEN, Aniplex, and CloverWorks. Distribution in Japan is handled by ANIMEC.
