New Trailer: "The Ghost in the Shell" Shows Action-Packed Glimpses of the New Anime Series

At Anime Japan 2026, the creators of the new TV series "The Ghost in the Shell" released the second trailer and a new key visual. The approximately one-minute clip consists exclusively of scenes from the yet-to-be-aired anime adaptation and offers a taste of the action-packed missions of the special team Public Security Section 9. The animations are produced by the renowned studio Science SARU, which closely follows the style of the manga creator Masamune Shirow's drawings for its look.

The simultaneously revealed key visual was specially created for the new anime by character designer and chief animation director Shuhei Handa. It depicts the fully cybernetic protagonist Motoko Kusanagi and the AI-powered tank Tachikoma in a style designed as a homage to Shirow's original drawings. The series is directed by Moko-chan, who makes his debut as main director with this series, while the renowned science fiction author Toh Enjoe is responsible for series composition and screenplay.

"The Ghost in the Shell" premieres in July 2026. The series will air on Japanese television in the "Kayou Anival!!" programming block on Kansai TV and Fuji TV, which is broadcast every Tuesday at 23:00. Concurrently with the Anime Japan event, producer Bandai Namco Filmworks is also presenting exhibits at its booth and hosting a meet-and-greet with the Tachikoma.
