Four additional voice actresses have been announced for the TV anime adaptation of Minoru Toyoda's manga "Kore Kaite Shine" (roughly translated as "Draw This and Die"). Additionally, a new visual titled "Lost World" and a second teaser trailer have been released. The series will air starting in July in the "FuraAni" programming block on Nippon TV, every Friday at 11:30 PM.
The new voice roles are taken on by well-known industry names: Noriko Hidaka voices Pokota, the imaginary friend of protagonist Ai, who also appears in her favorite manga series "Robota and Pokota." Atsumi Tanezaki lends her voice to Nana Teramura, the operator of a manga rental shop that Ai regularly visits. Yukana voices Hana Kongōji, the former editor of teacher Rei Teshima when he still wanted to draw manga. Kikuko Inoue, in turn, takes on the role of Hebichika-sensei, a successful manga artist.
In the second teaser trailer, alongside the new voice actresses, the previously announced main cast can be heard for the first time: Akira Sekine as manga-enthusiast student Ai Yasumi, Saori Hayami as her teacher Rei Teshima, as well as Saya Hitomi, Kanon Fujimura, and Inori Minase in other main roles.
"Kore Kaite Shine" is described as a "manga romance growth story." It follows high school student Ai, who lives on the remote island of Izu Ōshima and, together with friends, starts a manga research club to find her own creative path. The direction is handled by Hiroaki Akagi (known for "The Dangers in My Heart") at Shin-Ei Animation Studio. Series composition is overseen by Hiroko Fukuda.
In written statements, the new voice actresses expressed their excitement about their roles. Noriko Hidaka explained that she joyfully played the role of Pokota and sees the character as a constant companion who encourages Ai. Atsumi Tanezaki described working on the series as very moving and emphasized the beauty of the Izu Ōshima landscape. Yukana spoke of her appreciation for the editor's perspective that she embodies in her role. Kikuko Inoue, in turn, looked forward to portraying the dual personality of Hebichika-sensei, who shows both lovable and crazy traits.
The original manga by Minoru Toyoda has been serialized since 2021 in the magazine "Gessan" (Shogakukan) and has already received several awards, including the Manga Taishō 2023.
