NieR Automata - Episode 4

The latest episode of NieR has just been released and has now reached the chapter "Amusement Park." This section marks an important moment in the game, as it introduces players to a post-apocalyptic world.

In the episode, the characters were given more depth, which was not as obvious in the game. This was achieved by slowing down the pace to provide the audience with an emotional pull. The way the characters are portrayed in the anime also changes the original perception one had of them in the game. 2B was always distant and observant, while 9S was cheeky, expressive, and content with his role as part of YorHa. What isn’t immediately noticeable is his unwavering belief in the mission of humanity to free the Earth from all machine lifeforms.

The anime also takes the time to delve into the psyche of the machines, which was not the case in the game. It’s fascinating to observe the desires of the machines, as most of them long for trivial things like pleasure, desire, beauty, and material possessions. While some machines form genuine connections with the lifeforms around them, others are too obsessed with the superficial and vain aspects of humanity, leading to corruption.
