In Episode 15, 2B longs for an end to the endless fighting, particularly the repeated killing of 9S. During a mission to support 3B and the Theta Squadron, 2B is hit by an EMP and virus attack from the machine lifeforms, but 9S saves her at the last second.

9S manages to cure 2B's infection, and they eliminate the source of the signal interference, but they are overwhelmed by machine lifeforms and infected YoRHa soldiers. 2B and 9S merge their black boxes to annihilate the enemies and succeed in uploading their data to the bunker.

Back in the bunker, they discover it has been compromised. Commander White is unconscious, and infected operators, including 6O, have taken control. A Pod helps them escape by blasting a hole in the wall. White sacrifices herself to kill the infected 6O and orders 2B and 9S to survive before the bunker self-destructs.

As the bunker explodes, 2B and 9S crash-land on Earth, now facing the reality that they can no longer respawn or upload data. On Earth, they are met by Lily, Jackass, other uninfected androids, and A2, who observed their return. The episode ends with 2B and 9S facing an uncertain future on a dangerous Earth.
