The story revolves around 2B and 9S, who investigate the strange behavior of machines on Earth. After defeating Simone in the previous episode, they arrive at a machine village, where they discover robots that have established their own community. The two protagonists delve into the mystery and realize that the machines are much more than mere imitations of human behavior.

While exploring the machine village, 2B and 9S encounter a pacifistic robot named Pascal. This character takes center stage in the episode and embodies the idea of a life outside the paradigm of war.

Over the course of the episode, the androids begin to question the value of their existence as warriors and killers. They come to understand that there can be a life beyond fighting and killing, that there is more than the endless cycle of war.
