On July 3, 2026, the TV adaptation of Minoru Toyoda's manga 'Kore Kaite Shine' (roughly 'Draw This and Die') will premiere on Japan's Nippon TV in the 'Friday Anime Night' (FuraAni) programming block. To mark the occasion, nine of Japan's most famous manga creators have contributed specially crafted congratulatory illustrations and personal comments.

The campaign began on June 24 on the anime's official X account as a daily countdown. It kicked off with Yamamoto Soichiro, followed by Morohoshi Daijiro, Minagawa Ryoji, Fujita Kazuhiro, Nishimori Hiroyuki, Takahashi Rumiko, Shimamoto Kazuhiko, and Adachi Mitsuru. The series concluded on July 2 with Aoyama Gosho, the creator of 'Detective Conan'. All nine works are now available on a special page on the anime's website.

'Kore Kaite Shine' tells the story of high school girl Ai Yasumi, who lives on the remote island of Izu-Oshima and is passionate about reading manga. After a chance encounter, she begins drawing herself—and discovers the joys and sorrows of creative work. The original manga has been serialized in the magazine 'Gessan' (Shogakukan) since 2021 and has won multiple awards: it received the Manga Taisho in 2023, followed by the 70th Shogakukan Manga Award in 2025.

The anime production is handled by the renowned studio Shin-Ei Animation, known for works such as 'Teasing Master Takagi-san'. The director is Hiroaki Akagi, who previously directed 'The Dangers in My Heart'. Series composition is by Hiroko Fukuda, character design by Kenji Sagawa, and music by Hiroaki Tsutsumi. The opening theme is '遗书' ('Isho') by Tatsuya Kitani, while the ending theme is 'Conifer' by the band Regal Lily.

The main role of Ai Yasumi is voiced by Akira Sekine, with additional voice actors including Saori Hayami, Saya Hitomi, Kanon Fujimura, Inori Minase, and Noriko Hidaka. The series will air nationwide on 30 Nippon TV stations and will be available simultaneously on various streaming services such as U-NEXT, Anime Houdai, Lemino, and Anime Times. The first episode airs on July 3 at 11:35 PM, with subsequent episodes starting at 11:30 PM from the second week onward.

The comments from the participating artists reflect their high regard for Toyoda's work. Shimamoto Kazuhiko jokingly wrote: 'Stop it, Sekiryuu! Don't draw anything more interesting than me!' Takahashi Rumiko expressed her joy at celebrating the shared passion. Nishimori Hiroyuki praised the unconventional title and the quality of the story. Toyoda himself expressed gratitude for the detailed depiction of the island world in the animation.

The nine illustrations are available on the official website under the 'Mangaka Sensei Support Illustration' section. With the release of the tenth manga volume on July 10, 2026, the success story of the work continues.
