Nozomanu Fushi no Bōkensha is set to become a TV anime

During the "Overlap Bunko 9th Anniversary Online Event" held last Sunday, it was announced that the project to animate the light novel series Nozomanu Fushi no Bōkensha (The Unwanted Undead Adventurer) has received the green light. The project will take the form of a TV series. Simultaneously with the announcement, the publisher Overlap released a promotional trailer announcing the adaptation.



Rent Faina is an experienced adventurer who has been hunting monsters for ten years but has only reached the rank of Bronze so far. Since he has no special talents, he has to hunt slimes and goblins every day for meager pay. One day, he discovers a new passage in the well-known Water Moon Labyrinth. However, what awaits him there is neither treasure nor artifacts, but a legendary dragon that devours Rent. When the hero wakes up, he realizes that he is not quite dead but not very alive either—a class change has occurred, and now he is a skeleton! From now on, he will have to evolve as an undead being, hoping to one day regain his human form.

Yu Okano began publishing this fantasy adventure story on the novel website Shōsetsuka ni Narō in 2016. In 2017, the Overlap publishing house acquired the rights to publish the novel series in print. The first volume was released in Japan in October 2016, and currently, 9 volumes with illustrations by Jaian have already been released. The tenth volume will be published on April 25.
