During the "Overlap Bunko 9th Anniversary Online Event" held last Sunday, it was announced that the light novel series animation project Nozomanu Fushi no Bōkensha (The Unwanted Undead Adventurer) has received the green light. The project will take the form of a television series. Simultaneously with the announcement, publisher Overlap released a promotional trailer announcing the adaptation.

Rent Faina is a seasoned adventurer who has been hunting monsters for ten years, but has only reached the rank of bronze so far. Since he has no special talents, he has to hunt slimes and goblins every day for a small fee. One day he stumbles upon a new passageway in the well-known Water Moon Maze. But what awaits him there are neither treasures nor artefacts, but a legendary dragon that eats Rent. When the hero wakes up, he finds that he's not quite dead, but he's not very much alive either - there's been a class change, and now he's a skeleton! From now on he will have to evolve as an undead in hopes of one day regaining his human form.

Yu Okano began publishing this fantasy adventure story through the novel website Shōsetsuka ni Narō in 2016. In 2017, Overlap acquired the rights to publish the series of novels in print. The first volume was published in Japan in October 2016 and currently 9 volumes with illustrations by Jaian have already been published. The tenth volume will be released on April 25th
