According to the Box Office Mojo, GKids’ anime film Studio Ghibli’s Ocean Waves has earned around 68,300 USD; this is the total earning in the United States of America. GKids’ released this film at the IFC centre which is situated in New York. The film was released on 28 December.
In the first sixth days, this film listed at 57th at the box office by earning around 12,039. This is released in the three theatres in the United States of America.
In 1993, Ocean Waves used to be a television series. There was also a famous anime of Ghibli i.e. Graved of the Fireflies. In 1996, they completely disappeared and also stopped getting any response from Tokuma Shoten and Walt Disney companies. After that, ADV Films and Sentai Filmworks published the anime Grave of the Fireflies, but the anime Ocean Waves didn’t release in North America.
Later in 2010, the anime show Ocean Wave was released on DVD in the United Kingdom, by Optimum Releasing, and it was released in Australia by Madman Entertainment.
On January 5 and 9, Gkids displayed Ghibli’s animePrincess Mononoke film. They also celebrated movie’s 20th anniversary integrated the anime music video of Ghibli On Your Mark. The video was not published in North America.
In December, the anime movie Spirited Away by Ghibli got the 5th ranking in the United State Box office. The movie was released on the occasion of 15th anniversary consisted of Short film "Ghiblies: Episode 2”.
Gkids website is the present distributor of all Ghibli animations. The distributor has released Only Yesterday anime in the North America.
