The fan-favorite office comedy "Noa-senpai wa Tomodachi." (roughly translated as "Noa, My Senpai and Friend") by Enma Akiyama is being adapted into a TV anime. This was announced by publisher Shueisha and production company Kadokawa on July 13, 2026. A first teaser visual was also released, showing the female protagonist Noa Saotome.
The series has been serialized in the magazine "Weekly Young Jump" since July 2023 and has built a loyal readership with its blend of dry humor and everyday office life. The story centers on 27-year-old art director Noa Saotome, who appears to be an ambitious career woman on the outside but has a vulnerable side in private, and 23-year-old employee Rihito Otsuka, a member of the so-called Satori generation who wants to live his life as energy-efficiently as possible. After Rihito finds Noa drunk and crying in the office one evening, an unusual friendship develops between the two.
Studio feel., known for works such as "Tsuki ga Kirei" and "Hinamatsuri," is responsible for the animation. The director is Shinryo Yanagi, series composition is handled by Keiichiro Ochi, and character design is by Yumiko Yamamoto. The official website and X account (@noasenpai_anime) are already online.
As early as October 2023, a promotional video for the first manga volume was released, in which Mayu Yoshioka and Kengo Kawanishi voiced the roles of Noa and Rihito. The manga was also nominated in the print category at the Next Manga Awards 2024 and placed eighth. Ten collected volumes have been released so far, with volume 11 following on July 17, 2026.
A specific start date for the anime has not yet been set. The people in charge ask fans to keep an eye on further announcements.
