"Okashi na Tensei - Episode 4" is set in a world where a genius patissier, reborn as the son of a poor noble, aims to create a land of sweets. The episode begins with Pastry's family discussing their financial difficulties following a bandit attack and the reopening of two sealed villages. Due to the costs of reconstruction and securing food for the coming winter, the treasury is quickly running dry. They consider borrowing money, but the nearby fiefs and court nobles are unable to lend due to their own financial constraints.

Pastry comes up with an innovative idea to improve their financial situation. He proposes using his magical ability "Copy" to create matching photos. The idea is to sell these photos to parents seeking arranged marriages for their children, saving them the cost and dangers of travel. The family agrees to this plan, even though it risks revealing Pastry's abilities.

Pastry and his father then visit the County of Retes, where they meet Brioche Salgrade Mille Retes, the current holder of the fief. Pastry negotiates with her, claiming that the bandits who attacked their land originated from Retesvale. As proof, he presents a document bearing the Retes family crest. After tense negotiations, Brioche agrees to pay 150 gold coins as compensation.
