Eiichiro Oda, the original creator of the One Piece manga, is actively involved in the live-action adaptation as an executive producer. He has already stated that the series will not be released until he is satisfied with the adaptation. Oda emphasized the harmonious collaboration of everyone involved and assured that all parties are working "in sync." It was also clarified that the series will consist of eight episodes, contrary to earlier reports suggesting ten episodes.

The cast of the series has been revealed, featuring an ensemble of talents who will bring beloved characters to life. Inaki Godoy will portray Monkey D. Luffy, Mackenyu as Roronoa Zoro, Emily Rudd as Nami, Jacob Romero Gibson as Usopp, and Taz Skylar as Sanji. The cast also includes Morgan Davies as Koby, Ilia Isorelýs Paulino as Alvida, Aidan Scott as Helmeppo, and several other actors playing key roles.

Netflix holds the exclusive streaming rights to the series, making it accessible to a global audience. The live-action adaptation is produced by Tomorrow Studios, a joint venture between producer Marty Adelstein and ITV Studios. Matt Owens has been tasked with writing the series, while Steven Maeda and Becky Clements serve as executive producers.

Adelstein previously announced at Jump Festa 2017 that the series would begin with the East Blue Arc and then expand. He also assured that the live-action adaptation would remain true to the essence of "One Piece" and aim to create an authentic portrayal of the story and its characters.
