Oshiri Verantei-new anime episodes as a prehistory of the movie start in April

Starting April 5, NHK Eテレ will broadcast new episodes of the popular anime series Oshiri Tantei. Alongside the announcement, a fresh key visual and a teaser video were released, highlighting the humorous dynamic between the titular "Butt Detective" and the international criminal syndicate Kaitō Akademī.

The new episodes serve as a direct prequel to the third movie, Oshiri Tantei: Star and Moon, which hits Japanese theaters on March 20. This time, the focus is on a forest-themed café owned by the company SUANA—a business that produces character merchandise and was first introduced in the eleventh volume of the original picture book series. The key visual shows Oshiri Tantei and his assistant Brown enjoying pudding desserts designed after SUANA’s squirrel mascot, Donkurusu.

The teaser also offers a first look at the antagonist Kaitō G, the leader of the Kaitō Akademī, who taunts the detective with the words, "Welcome to my hideout, Oshiri Tantei…" The scene hints at a strategic game of cat and mouse between the two parties.

The Oshiri Tantei series, which has been airing since 2018, combines slapstick humor with mystery elements and is primarily aimed at a younger audience.
