OVA Films has secured the rights to both the movie and the two-part OVA for the mecha anime Sosei no Aquarion. The two DVDs are expected to be released in Germany by the end of this year.

The film and the OVA are spin-offs of the 2007 anime Aquarion. The idea for the anime came from Shoji Kawamori, who also worked on Macross. The anime is set in the near future and revolves around an epic battle between humans and mystical creatures. Humanity's trump cards in this fight are mechas.
