"Komada - A Whisky Family" tells the story of Rui Komada, the young head of her family's struggling whisky distillery. After her father's death, Rui takes over the business amidst financial difficulties, a fractured family, and the aftermath of a natural disaster. Determined to mend her family's bonds, Rui strives to revive the distinct Japanese whisky that her family is known for.

The film's cast includes Saori Hayami as Rui Komada, Kensho Ono as news reporter Kōtarō Takahashi, Maaya Uchida as Tomoko Kawabata, and Yoshimasa Hosoya as Yasumoto. Masayuki Yoshihara directs at P.A. Works, while Yukito Kizawa and Munemasa Nakamoto handle the screenplay. Tomomi Takada provides the original character design concepts, and Kousuke Kawazura designs the characters for animation and also serves as the chief animation director. Tatsuya Katō composes the music, with DMM credited as producer and GAGA Corporation as distributor.

The Annecy International Animation Film Festival 2023 will take place from June 11 to 17 in Annecy, France. The Contrechamp category, introduced in 2019, replaces the Out-of-Competition section and showcases unique feature films that challenge the audience's perspective.

P.A. Works' "Workplace" series began with "Hana-Saku Iroha" in 2010, followed by "Shirobako" in 2014, "Sakura Quest" in 2017, and "The aquatope on white sand" in 2021, each focusing on different industries.
