Paris ni Saku Etoile – A Star Blooms in Paris: Insights into the Film Project

An interquel video has been released for the original anime film Paris ni Saku Etoile (approximately: A Star That Blooms in Paris). The film, announced for March 13, 2026, is being produced under the direction of Goro Taniguchi with character designs by Katsuya Kondo.

The plot is set in early 20th century Paris and tells the story of two young women from Japan. The protagonist Fujiko dreams of becoming a painter, although she is expected to be a good wife. The other character, Chizuru, comes from a samurai family and is an experienced naginata fighter, but develops a passion for ballet. The film follows the development of these two girls with different personalities.

The released video begins with Fujiko calling out her name against the backdrop of the colorful Parisian cityscape. It shows scenes of Fujiko working at her easel, being kindly observed by people, and Chizuru gracefully dancing ballet. Additionally, footage of the voice recording session is shown, featuring the voice actresses Ama Arima (as Fujiko) and Rina Arashi (as Chizuru) recording their dialogue.

The project deals with the pursuit of personal dreams and artistic aspirations against the historical backdrop of a vibrant European metropolis. The interquel provides an impression of the visual design and the emotional depth of the characters.
