Ping Pong: New Manga Adventure in Weekly Shonen Jump

The current issue of the magazine Weekly Shonen Jump (Shuueisha) presents a new series. Under the title Ping Pong, the work of Takaaki Kataoka begins as a serialized publication.

The plot follows Mikado Taira, a student who is unexpectedly faced with an enormous debt burden of one billion yen. This burden was left behind by his father. When creditors attempt to sell off his sister, the young protagonist intervenes. In this situation, a mysterious figure named Kaname Mutsuki appears. He offers the youth a way to earn money.

Although Taira expects dangerous activities, he sees no alternative and accepts the offer. Mutsuki then leads him to a facility where high-stakes table tennis matches take place in secret. These are referred to as "Ping Pong."

The story depicts the struggle of the young man, who won the Japanese table tennis championships three times in a row during middle school, but now fights in the underworld for financial salvation. An accompanying video marks the series' launch.
