Production I.G has announced that they are working on an anime adaptation of Tsuchika Nishimura's manga "The Concierge at Hokkyoku Department Store." The film, set to release in the fall of this year, marks Yoshimi Itazu's debut as an anime director. Satomi Ooshima is in charge of the screenplay, and Aniplex is distributing the film.

"The Concierge at Hokkyoku Department Store" revolves around the story of a new concierge working at a mysterious department store where all the customers are animals. Her job is to understand the unique needs of these customers and provide suitable recommendations.

The manga, which ran from November 2016 to 2020, was serialized in Shogakukan's "Big Comic Zōkan" magazine and completed with two volumes. It received the Excellence Award at the 25th Japan Media Arts Festival Awards by the Agency for Cultural Affairs in 2022. Nishimura's work was also featured in the manga anthology "Glaeolia 3" alongside indie manga, which was published by Glacier Bay Books in July 2022.
