Promotional video for Kaiju No. 8th

The website for the anime adaptation of Kaiju No. 8 has released a promo clip. This announcement reveals that the manga adaptation by Naoya Matsumoto will be animated by Production I.G. and is set to release in 2024. Studio Khara, founded by Hideaki Anno and known for Shin Godzilla and Evangelion, is responsible for the designs and artwork.



Kaiju No. 8 has been serialized on Shônen Jump+ since July 2020 and is currently one of the most popular series on the platform. As of today, eight compiled volumes of this work are available on the Japanese market. In December 2020, Kaiju No. 8 surpassed 30 million views, making it the fastest series on Shônen Jump+ to reach this milestone. Each newly released chapter receives over a million views, and the series ranked 10th in AnimeJapan 2022's list of "Manga I'd Like to See Animated."

Japan has the highest rate of kaiju attacks in the world. The kaiju constantly invade people's daily lives, leaving devastation in their wake. Kafka Hibino, who once dreamed of joining the Defense Force, now works as a cleanup crew member for kaiju remains.

One day, however, Kafka is transformed into a kaiju by a mysterious creature, and the Japanese Defense Force, tasked with combating these monsters, identifies him under the codename "Kaiju No. 8."
