"Re:Zero" Season 4: Trailer for "Dakkan-Hen" Shows Subaru's Resolve and a New Enemy

Ahead of the upcoming start of the second half of the fourth season, the production of the anime adaptation of "Re:Zero kara Hajimeru Isekai Seikatsu" released a new promotional film on August 5. The trailer for "Dakkan-Hen" (Arc of Recapture) picks up from the previous "Soushitsu-Hen" (Arc of Loss) and shows in new scenes the inner conflicts that Subaru and his companions experienced there. At the same time, the video hints at the existence of a new enemy. "Dakkan-Hen" will air starting August 12, 2026, and will be broadcast on 21 stations nationwide in Japan.

The first episode of the new arc is also the 12th episode of the fourth season, or the 78th episode of the series overall, and is titled "Korekara no Hanashi." Advance scene stills and a web trailer have been released: After Subaru awakens from another "Return by Death," he accepts the feelings of Emilia and the others and resolves to fight as "Natsuki Subaru." First, he confesses that he has lost his memory and declares: "I will bring back Rem's memories and my own, and return safely with everyone." With this announcement, he gains Ram's support and heads to the spiral staircase in the tower—to the place where he was pushed from behind twice and fell into the depths. The episode is credited to screenwriter Eiji Umehara, storyboard supervisors Shinji Itadaki and Masahiro Shinohara, and director Tamaki Nakatsu; Chie Mishima serves as chief animation director.

Also released were advance scene stills for mini-anime episode 78 titled "Uragata Shimai Angya Nippo." In it, Meili fails her first assignment and loses consciousness. When she wakes up, Elsa has already finished the work—but Meili notices something off about Elsa's movements.

Additionally, the third part of the making-of series for the fourth season was released, focusing on Rie Takahashi, the voice actress of Emilia. The video includes a simulated recording session and an interview with the actress, offering a behind-the-scenes look at the recordings.

To coincide with the start of "Dakkan-Hen," the streaming service ABEMA will reopen its "Re:Zero" channel on August 8. From August 8 to 11, all previous episodes of the series will be shown there as a free marathon: one season daily starting at 11 a.m., from the first season through the second, third, and fourth seasons including "Soushitsu-Hen"—a total of 77 episodes. The offering is supplemented by the two OVAs "Memory Snow" and "Hyoketsu no Kizuna." Ten selected episodes will feature commentary from the involved voice actors, including episode 18 "Zero kara" with Yūsuke Kobayashi (Subaru) and Inori Minase (Rem), as well as episode 77 with Kobayashi, Rie Takahashi, and Satomi Arai (Beatrice).

The fourth season of the series has been airing on Japanese television since April 2026. The underlying novel series is by Tappei Nagatsuki and is published by KADOKAWA under the MF Bunko J label. For the tenth anniversary of "Re:Zero," the project operates a special website; in June, an anniversary event was also announced, bringing together twelve members of the voice cast, including Yūsuke Kobayashi. Alongside Kobayashi and Takahashi, the ensemble includes Satomi Arai (Beatrice), Rie Murakawa (Ram), and Inori Minase (Rem).
