In Episode 58 of Re:Zero, the group gathers around Subaru to discuss the Witch Cult's four demands: the Witch's remains, the silver-haired girl (Emilia), the artificial spirit (Beatrice), and the Book of Wisdom. Otto reveals that he possesses the burned Book of Wisdom—the prototype of the Witch Cult's Gospels—which he is currently having restored. Priscilla appears alongside Liliana, the songstress, and offers to join the fight against the Cult.

Wilhelm informs Subaru that although Crusch has awakened, she is in critical condition due to being afflicted by a dragon's blood curse. Subaru wants to help, but Crusch urges him to focus on the upcoming battle. Wilhelm also reveals that the Cult's revived "Corpse Soldiers" include his deceased wife, Theresia van Astrea, who has been reanimated through forbidden magic.

The group devises a plan and divides their forces to combat the Sin Archbishops. Priscilla and Liliana are to confront Wrath in the fourth district, with Liliana's songs serving as an antidote to Wrath's powers. Wilhelm and Garfiel will battle Lust in the first district, who controls the Corpse Soldiers. Reinhard declares his intention to fight alongside Subaru against Greed, despite the latter's supposed invincibility. Julius and Ricardo take on Gluttony, while Anastasia and Felis remain at the government building.

Meanwhile, Emilia is held captive by Regulus, the Sin Archbishop of Greed, who intends to marry her and imposes absurd rules for his wives, such as forbidding emotions. Emilia rejects him, voicing her beliefs about love and marriage, and confesses that there is someone important to her. As the situation escalates, Subaru and Reinhard storm the wedding, declare their intent to rescue Emilia, and prepare to battle Regulus.
