Rising of the Shield Hero Season 3 revealed a new image as well as information about the team. Kinema Citrus will continue to animate the series, which will be broadcast on Crunchyroll.

The premiere date has not yet been announced, but Crunchyroll will offer the simulcast in the following countries: Europe, North America, Central America, South America, Africa, Oceania, the Middle East, and CIS.

In September 2019 and during the Crunchyroll Expo 2019, it was announced that The Rising of the Shield Hero would have two more seasons in addition to the first anime in 2019. The first anime concluded with 25 episodes, and the second season recently ended with 13 episodes.

Yusagi Aneko has been writing, and Seira Minami has been illustrating the fantasy light novel Tate no Yuusha no Nariagari since 2012. Kadokawa publishes this work under the MF Bunko imprint, with 22 volumes released in Japan so far. There is also a manga adaptation by Kyu Aiya, which has been serialized since 2014 in Media Factory's Comic Flapper magazine and has already compiled 21 tankōbon volumes.

Crunchyroll is currently streaming the anime and describes the plot as follows:

Iwatani Naofumi, an ordinary otaku, finds a book in the library that transports him to another world. He is tasked with wielding one of the four Cardinal Weapons—Sword, Spear, and Bow—and fighting the Waves of Calamity as the Shield Hero. Excited by the prospect of a grand adventure, Naofumi sets out with his party. But just a few days later, he is betrayed and loses all his money, dignity, and respect. Unable to trust anyone anymore, he recruits a slave girl named Raphtalia and takes on the Waves and the world. But will he truly find a way to overcome this desperate situation?
