The highly anticipated TV anime "Rurouni Kenshin: Meiji Swordsman Romantic Story - Kyoto Arc," based on the original work by Nobuhiro Watsuki, is set to premiere on October 3, 2025. The announcement was made during the "Aniplex Online Fest 2024" on September 16, where new key visuals, a trailer, and further casting details were revealed.

The new key visual features protagonist Kenshin Himura wielding his iconic reverse-blade sword (Sakabatou), surrounded by key characters from the second season, including members of Shishio Makoto's faction. The images showcase a variety of allies and enemies, capturing the intense confrontations that define the Kyoto Arc.

The recently released third trailer highlights key scenes from the upcoming story arc, including Kenshin's fierce battles with Shishio Makoto, his mentor Hiko Seijuro, and various other characters pivotal to the unfolding narrative. The trailer also reveals Hiko Seijuro's character design, offering a deeper look at his imposing presence.

Additionally, new voice actors were announced for key characters in Shishio's group:

- Haruka Tomatsu will voice Komagata Yumi, a close companion of Shishio Makoto.

- Wataru Hatano will play Yukyuuzan Anji, a former monk turned warrior.

- Nobuhiko Okamoto will portray Sawagejou Cho, a swift and deadly swordsman.

The anime's opening theme song, titled "Iranai Mono" ("Unnecessary Things"), will be performed by Tatsuya Kitani in collaboration with Natori.

The series marks a return to one of the most iconic storylines in "Rurouni Kenshin," where Kenshin Himura faces one of his greatest adversaries, Shishio Makoto—a former assassin like himself who seeks to overthrow the Meiji government.
