"Sand Land" anime film and the vision of Akira Toriyama

TOHO recently released a promotional video titled "Akira Toriyama World" for the upcoming anime adaptation of Akira Toriyama's SAND LAND manga. The nearly three-minute video gives viewers a glimpse into the plot and the interpersonal dynamics of the characters in the film. Additionally, it provides a longer preview of the film's theme song, "Utopia," performed by the rising artist imase.



The theatrical release in Japan is set for this Friday, with audiences having the opportunity to experience the film in IMAX, 4DX, and MX4D formats.

The adaptation features established industry voices such as Mutsumi Tamura, Kazuhiro Yamaji, and Akio Ōtsuka.

The story is set in a distant, post-apocalyptic future where a parched Earth is ruled by a selfish king who controls the water resources. Sheriff Rao teams up with the Demon King's son, Beelzebub, and an assistant named Thief to search for a lost lake. On their journey, they must face a variety of challenges, from dragons and bandits to the army of the fearsome king.
