The animation adaptation of Akira Toriyama's work SAND LAND: THE SERIES will be broadcast on Japanese television starting June 28. To mark this announcement, a new official key visual has been released, capturing the atmosphere of the series.

Currently available exclusively on Disney+, the production was created through a collaboration of three studios: Sunrise (responsible for iconic series such as Mobile Suit Gundam and Love Live!), Kamikaze Douga (known for innovative animations in JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure and Pop Team Epic), and ANIMA, which contributed expertise in 3D animation.

The story is divided into two narrative sections: The Chronicle of the Demon Prince (6 episodes) and The Legend of the Angel Hero (7 episodes). The first part is based on the 2023 feature film but has been expanded with unpublished scenes and revised. From episode 7 onward, the protagonists enter a newly conceived world – Forest Land – where unexpected adventures and conflicts unfold.

The series thus combines familiar elements from the film with fresh storylines developed exclusively for the television format. Fans of the original can look forward to seeing how the characters' journey continues in this expanded version.
