On the official website of the new TV anime adaptation of Rumiko Takahashi's manga Urusei Yatsura, it was announced that the second half of the series will air in 2024. The first half of the anime was completed on Friday.
Urusei Yatsura first aired in October 2022. The anime, planned for four cours or a full year, will adapt selected stories from the manga but not in a continuous sequence.
The story follows the adventures of the unlucky human boy Ataru Moroboshi, who encounters the beautiful alien space princess Lum. Ataru's supernatural encounters begin when he is chosen to play a game of tag with Lum, who arrives on Earth in her UFO. Ataru must touch Lum's horns within ten days, or the aliens will take over the planet.
The manga series, originally serialized from 1978 to 1987 in Shogakukan's Weekly Shonen Sunday magazine, has inspired numerous anime adaptations, including a TV series, films, and an original video anime (OVA) series.
