The production of a second season of the anime series "Sword Art Online Alternative: Gun Gale Online" was announced during the Dengeki Bunko 30th Anniversary Event.



Tomori Kusunoki will reprise her role as the main character Llenn. In addition, key staff members from Studio 3Hz will return to the project. These include Director Masayuki Sakoi, Series Script Supervisor Yōsuke Kuroda, and Yoshio Kosakai as Character Design/Chief Animation Director.

"Sword Art Online Alternative: Gun Gale Online" tells the story of Karen Kohiruimaki, a tall university student who faces social difficulties due to her height. She escapes into the world of Gun Gale Online through her avatar Llenn, a character who is less than 150 cm tall and dressed entirely in pink. In this online universe, she befriends Pitohui, a brown-skinned player. However, their friendship takes a turn when Pitohui persuades Llenn to participate in "Squad Jam," a team-based battle royale variant of the "Bullet of Bullets" tournament.

The anime series is an adaptation of Keiichi Sigsawa's "Sword Art Online Alternative: Gun Gale Online," which in turn is a spin-off of Reki Kawahara's novel series "Sword Art Online." The first season of "Sword Art Online Alternative: Gun Gale Online" debuted in April 2018 and consists of 13 episodes.
