TOKYO MX has announced the production of a second season of the BL drama series "Renai Rubi no Tadashii Furikata" (The Proper Way to Write Love). The new season is set to air in October 2026 and will consist of six episodes. The series is based on the manga of the same name by Ogeretsu Tanaka, which was published by Shinshokan in 2015.

The first season aired from July to September 2025 and told the story of Suzuki Hiro, a successful hairstylist, and Washizawa Natsuo, his former high school classmate who once made his life difficult. After an unexpected love confession, Hiro enters a relationship with the ulterior motive of later hurting Natsuo. However, feelings develop differently.

The series captured the hearts of viewers not only in Japan but also internationally. During its broadcast, the associated hashtag regularly trended on social media. The finale reached first place in the overall rankings on the FOD platform. Additionally, the main characters' kiss was recognized in several rankings, including as one of the best kiss scenes of summer 2025. Pop-up stores in Shanghai and Taipei, as well as international streaming offerings, contributed to its global popularity.

In the second season, the main actors Genki Iwahashi as Hiro and Satoru Soma as Natsuo return. Director Anri Sato and screenwriter Mikiko Takahashi, who were responsible for the first season, are also back on board. The story picks up after the end of the first season and shows the couple's life together. Under the supervision of manga author Ogeretsu Tanaka, an original plot is being developed that also weaves in spin-off elements from the source material. New characters and changing life circumstances create tension.

To get viewers excited for the second season, TOKYO MX will air a rerun of the first season starting August 6, 2026. An episode will be broadcast every Thursday at 1:00 AM; afterward, it will be available for streaming on TVer. Starting July 14, 2026, the first season will also be available on Hulu, U-NEXT, and DMM TV via subscription, in addition to FOD.

Genki Iwahashi expressed his happiness about the continuation: "It feels like a dream. I want to dedicate myself fully to the work so that viewers can feel the charm of the original." Satoru Soma added: "I'm incredibly excited to be back in front of the camera as Natsuo. The anticipation for the filming is huge."

Iwahashi, a former member of King & Prince, is pursuing a successful solo career as a singer and actor. In February 2026, he released his first major single on Teichiku Entertainment. Soma, who previously worked as an office worker, became known through his role in the Super Sentai series "Bakuage Sentai Boonboomger" and will appear this fall in the drama series "Oretachi no Hakone Ekiden."

The second season of "Renai Rubi no Tadashii Furikata" will air on TOKYO MX starting October 2026.
