The revival of the cult anime 'Fist of the North Star – Hokuto no Ken' is getting a continuation: As Warner Bros. Japan announced on Friday, the second cour (the second quarter) of the series will be broadcast and streamed in 2027. The announcement came immediately after the airing of the 14th and final episode of the first cour on June 26, 2026. Following the credits, the production team released a roughly 15-second teaser for the 15th episode, focusing on the previously unseen character Jagi – one of the four brothers of the Hokuto school.
The new anime was created to mark the 40th anniversary of the original manga by Buronson and Tetsuo Hara, which was serialized in 'Weekly Shonen Jump' (Shueisha) from 1983 to 1988 and sold over 100 million copies worldwide. It is the first completely new anime adaptation since the film series 'Shin Kyūseishu Densetsu Hokuto no Ken' (2006–2008) – after about 18 years. The first cour began on April 10, 2026, and consisted of 14 episodes, which aired on Japanese channels TOKYO MX and BS11 and were streamed exclusively worldwide via Prime Video.
The new series is produced by TMS Entertainment (known for 'Dr. Stone' among others). Hiroshi Maeda is directing, Kazuhiko Inukai is handling the series composition, Naoki Hisatsune is in charge of character design, and Yuki Hayashi is composing the music. The main cast includes Shunsuke Takeuchi as Kenshiro, Daiki Yamashita as Bat, M・A・O as Rin, Koji Yusa as Shin, Saori Hayami as Yuria, Yuichi Nakamura as Rei, Ruriko Aoki as Mamiya, Wataru Takagi as Jagi, Tsuguo Mogami as Toki, Taiten Kusunoki as Raoh, and Koichi Yamadera as the narrator.
Concurrently with the announcement, a social media giveaway started on the series' official X account: Until July 3, 2026 (24:59 JST), participants can win a set of six clear files featuring technique names from the first cour by following and reposting a post.
The second cour is expected to seamlessly continue the story and introduces Jagi, one of the series' most iconic antagonists. A more specific start date in 2027 has yet to be announced.
