“Self-Taught Fighter” announces cast and premiere details

The voice actors for the anime "Self-Taught Fighter" have been announced, including Tetsushi Niwa in the lead role of Kotaro Shimura.

The series, set to air in April, will take viewers on Kotaro Shimura's dark journey as a bullied teenager who climbs the social ladder through online-shared "fight videos."

Tetsushi Niwa brings the protagonist Kotaro to life, a character who faces life's adversities with courage and determination. Alongside Niwa, Nobuhiko Okamoto plays Kanegon, a friend who co-founds the channel "Self-Taught Fighter" with Kotaro; Ai Fairouz as Akiyo Yashio, a striking student skilled in video editing; and Yuichi Nakamura as Tatsuya Ougi, an impressive mixed martial arts fighter with an aura of strength.

The anime also features additional characters, such as a female student who works the same part-time job as Kotaro, voiced by Yui Ishikawa, and a former Taekwondo competitor turned delinquent student, played by Kaito Ishikawa. Additionally, the series includes a "NewTuber" focused on beauty who aims to grow her channel through collaborations, voiced by Yoshino Aoyama, and a mysterious figure named Tōkei, who uploads videos of victorious fights while wearing a mask, voiced by Tomokazu Sugita.

The production team behind "Self-Taught Fighter" includes Masakazu Hishida as director, Toshiya Ono handling series composition, Rimi Miyamoto as character designer, and Yutaka Yamada composing the music.
