As part of the celebrations for the franchise's thirtieth anniversary, the production of a completely new "Neon Genesis Evangelion" series has been confirmed. The announcement was made on February 23 during the closing event of the "EVANGELION:30+; 30th ANNIVERSARY OF EVANGELION" event in Yokohama.

Series composition and screenplay are handled by Yoko Taro, the creator of the successful "NieR" video game series. The directors are Kazuya Tsurumaki and Toru Yatabe. Tsurumaki has a long-standing connection with the franchise, having directed, among other projects, the "Rebuild of Evangelion" film series. Yatabe previously served as assistant director on "Evangelion: 3.0+1.0 Thrice Upon a Time." The music is composed by Keiichi Okabe, who is also known for his work on the "NieR" series.

The new series is being produced through a collaboration between Studio Khara, founded by Hideaki Anno, and CloverWorks. While specific plot details, the series' length, or a release date have not yet been announced, the official announcement emphasizes that it is a completely independent adaptation.
