"Shabake" by Megumi Hatakenaka celebrated its 20th anniversary with the release of an animated short film featuring the best moments from the manga.

The story, which takes us back to Japan's Edo period, is 3 minutes long. It shows the protagonist, Ichitaro, the weak young man named Wakadanna, and his servants Sasuke and Jinkichi as they collaborate with Ayakashis to solve mysterious cases. The short film has been available since July 19th on the official website of the adaptation as well as on the YouTube channel of the Shinchosha publishing house, which has been releasing the manga since its inception in 2001.

Alongside the release of the short film, the publisher released the 15th and final volume of the work, written and illustrated by Megumi Hatakenaka, on the same day as the premiere.
