short film Kikasetehoshii Kimi no Koto addresses young caregivers

The animation studio MAPPA and its subsidiary Contrail have collaborated with the Nakano ward in Tokyo to produce the short film Kikasetehoshii Kimi no Koto (Eng. Tell Me About You). The film, which was released on the ward's YouTube channel, focuses on the theme of "Young Carer" – young people whose personal development is restricted due to family care responsibilities.

The background of the project is the initiative of Nakano ward, which was selected as a model region for government measures against social isolation. MAPPA and Contrail took up the theme to encourage those affected to seek support. The plot follows elementary school student Yūma, who gains insight into the life of his friend Kenta, a "Young Carer." The film emphasizes the importance of social connections.

Additionally, the Nakano East Library is hosting an exhibition until June 26 featuring original drawings, storyboards, and character designs from the production. The exhibition aims to raise awareness of the challenges faced by young caregivers and provide insights into the artistic creation process.
