The 20th issue of Kodansha's Weekly Young Magazine has announced that Shuuichi Shigeno's MF Ghost manga will once again go on hiatus. The magazine has not announced a return date, and the latest chapter of the manga revealed that the story is approaching its "final battle."

The manga's hiatus, which began in November 2022 due to Shigeno's poor health, had only just ended on February 20. In the author's afterword, Shigeno mentioned that the manga is now "four-fifths" complete but expressed concerns about whether he could continue drawing until the final part of the story.

MF Ghost was first released in September 2017 and is created by Shigeno, who is also known for his popular work Initial D. The 16th compiled volume of the manga was released in Japan on February 6. Kodansha USA Publishing and Comixology have distributed the manga in English. The story is set in the near future, where sustainably powered cars are the norm. It follows Kanata Rivington, a half-Japanese racer who competes in the last great race for internal combustion engine cars while searching for his father.

MF Ghost is set to inspire a TV anime adaptation, which is scheduled to premiere in 2023.
