The anime series Natsume's Book of Friends, based on the manga by Yuki Midorikawa, will return for a seventh season, as announced on the official website and the series' YouTube channel. This news was revealed as part of the celebrations for the anime's 15th anniversary.

The announcement video confirms the return of the renowned creative team that has significantly contributed to the series' unique charm and success. Chief director Takahiro Ōmori and director Hideki Ito will reprise their roles from previous seasons and the two most recent film adaptations. Sadayuki Murai will once again handle the series' scripts, while Akira Takata resumes his position as character designer. Music composer Makoto Yoshimori is also returning.

The manga Natsume's Book of Friends was originally published in June 2003, first serialized in Hakusensha's LaLa DX magazine before moving to LaLa in 2007. The story centers on Natsume, a young boy who can see yōkai—supernatural creatures from Japanese folklore. His life takes an unexpected turn when he inherits a Book of Friends from his grandmother, filled with contracts binding yōkai, leading him on a path of unexpected encounters and profound experiences.
