Skip to Loafers - Episode 9

Mitsumi flies home with gifts in tow. Upon arrival, she is greeted by her family and friends, who are surprised by how much she has changed after just four months in the city. Together, they enjoy a feast made with homegrown ingredients. Mitsumi receives a call from her childhood friend Fumi, who invites her to meet up with their middle school friends at the local shrine. During the gathering, they set off fireworks, and Fumi reveals that she has been dating a boy since the start of summer vacation.

The next morning, Mitsumi oversleeps and is barely woken up in time by her sister to welcome Fumi’s visit. The two girls head to the beach and spend the day together. As summer vacation comes to an end, Mitsumi reluctantly boards the plane back to the city, leaving the relaxed life of her hometown behind.

Back in the city, Mitsumi meets her classmate Shima at school, and the two catch up. Then, Mitsumi encounters her upperclassman Kanechika, who gives her a script for the school festival performance. Mitsumi also reunites with her friends Yuzu and Mako, who are delighted by their summer tans. With them and other classmates, she shares the squid-shaped cookies she brought from her hometown.

Meanwhile, Watanabe reveals that he got a girlfriend during summer vacation, causing a stir among his friends. Mitsumi, Shima, and other students then attend a meeting about the upcoming school festival, which excites Mitsumi greatly. After the assembly, she shares her excitement with Shima. However, despite Mitsumi’s enthusiasm, Shima seems distant, which unsettles her.

Finally, Mitsumi’s class decides to perform a play for the school festival. The episode ends on a cheerful note as Mitsumi reflects on the end of summer and the approaching school festival.
