sounds! Euphonium: Ensemble Contest reveals trailer and cast

The third season of the anime Sound! Euphonium was announced for summer 2023. The anime is based on the light novel series by Ayano Takeda and is produced by Kyoto Animation. The main cast from the original series will return to their roles, including Chika Anzai as Reina Kosaka and Tomoyo Kurosawa as Kumiko Oumae.



The anime series, produced by Kyoto Animation, already has two seasons that aired from April to July 2015 and October to December 2016. The franchise also includes two animated films, "Liz and the Blue Bird" and "Sound! Euphonium: The Movie - Our Promise: A Brand New Day," released in 2018 and 2019, respectively, and animated by Kyoto Animation.

The light novel series "Sound! Euphonium" follows the story of Kumiko, a high school student who loses her passion for music after a crushing disappointment in her school band's competition. However, upon entering her first year at Kitauji High School, she sees it as an opportunity for a fresh start and rejoins the school band, even though it is in terrible shape. The new club director promises to improve the band so they can make it to the national championships. But the problems run deeper than just lack of practice, and the discord within the club brings Kumiko's old insecurities back to the surface. Will Kitauji High School find its rhythm, and will Kumiko find herself?
