29 years after the death of the hero Himmel in the northern deciduous forests, the episode begins with the group reminiscing about their time together. Fern has been with Frieren for about four years, Stark for about a year. Sein, the youngest member, notes that an older woman is missing from the group, which surprises the others.

As they approach the next village, they find everyone asleep, suggesting a curse. Frieren decides to go to another village, but Sein recognizes the curse and suggests fighting it. Frieren explains that curses are spells humanity has yet to understand and that they are usually handled by priests using the Goddess's magic.

Sein attempts to determine the nature and source of the curse. He concludes that it is an unusual curse and proposes defeating the monster responsible for it. The group sets out to find the monster, but soon Stark and Fern fall asleep due to the curse's effects.

Sein temporarily wakes Frieren to fight the monster, a subspecies of the Chaos Flower that feeds on the mana of the sleeping villagers. Sein struggles with the decision to wake Frieren, fearing the consequences of her powerful magic if reflected by the monster. He recalls Heiter's advice to trust Frieren's words and decides to believe in her promise to defeat the monster.

Upon waking, Frieren quickly discerns the monster's nature, defeats it, and saves the village. The villagers express their gratitude, and Frieren is praised for her role in resolving the crisis.
