Spice and Wolf (2024) - Episode 20

In Episode 20, Lawrence and Holo continue their journey and wake up to a cheerful argument about Holo's sensitive tail. Soon, they reach Enberch, where Lawrence seeks directions to the village of Tereo, hoping to find a clue about the remote abbey of Diendram, where an abbot collects stories about pagan gods. After selling wheat flour in Enberch, a miller named Evan advises them to have Holo remove her nun's habit before entering Tereo, as there are tensions between the Church of Enberch and the village.

Upon arriving in Tereo, Lawrence and Holo meet Elsa, a reserved priestess who denies knowing anything about the abbey or the fate of its steward, Father Franz. Growing suspicious of Elsa's evasiveness, Lawrence seeks out the village elder, Sem, who also claims to know nothing about the abbey, though he confirms Franz's death.

Over the course of the day, Lawrence notices a connection between Elsa and Evan, who embraces her upon her arrival at the church. This strengthens Lawrence's suspicion that Elsa and Sem are hiding something about the abbey. Determined to uncover the truth, Lawrence decides to investigate further with Holo by his side. The episode ends with Lawrence and Holo preparing to unravel the secrets surrounding Tereo and the abbey of Diendram.
