In Episode 21, Holo and Lawrence are accompanied during their visit to a tavern in the village of Tereo. The tavern's patrons praise the hostess Lima, who tells a story about a count and pirates. The conversation shifts when Lawrence asks about the village's blessing, prompting the men to speak of their loyalty to the local deity Truyeo, a serpent god who grants them bountiful harvests. The men ask Lawrence for help in dealing with punitive taxes and a cursed cave near Enberch Town, but Lima intervenes to lighten the mood.

Afterward, Lawrence accompanies a drunken Holo back to their inn, where she recovers from her hangover. The next day, Lawrence reflects on the village's sources of income and the miracles of the Church. He sees Evan coming from the church and follows him to his mill. There, Evan speaks of the village's connection to Enberch and his relationship with Elsa, a kind woman who supported him after the death of Father Franz. Evan hints that Elsa has resolved a long-standing issue but avoids giving details.
