Animation studio david production has released the second key visual for the adaptation of Hirohiko Araki's JoJo's Bizarre Adventure Part 7 – Steel Ball Run. The image shows protagonists Johnny Joestar and Gyro Zeppeli in front of a vast, barren desert landscape, above which a ghostly, skull-like sun hovers – a grim preview of the dangers lurking in the second part of the story.

The first part of the series, 1st STAGE, has been available as a 47-minute special episode exclusively on Netflix since March 2026. The start of 2nd STAGE has already been announced for fall 2026, which will now be broadcast weekly – also worldwide via Netflix. The focus is on crossing a desert approximately 750 miles long, where the feared area known as "Devil's Hand" is located. Johnny and Gyro must realize that the race is far more than a sporting competition; dark machinations are brewing behind the scenes.

Alongside the visual, Warner Bros. Japan announced that a special panel for Steel Ball Run will take place at Anime Expo 2026 in Los Angeles on July 3. Composer Yugo Kanno – responsible for the music of all previous JoJo animes – as well as English voice actors Daman Mills (Johnny) and Kaiji Tang (Gyro) are expected to attend. In addition to a live performance by Kanno, new insights into the second season are also to be provided. Just one day later, on July 4 at 8:00 AM Japan time, another announcement with previously unknown details about 2nd STAGE will follow.

The production is once again handled by the proven team: direction is by Yasuhiro Kimura and Hideya Takahashi (both previously involved in Golden Wind), series composition by Yasuko Kobayashi, and character design by Daisuke Tsumagari. The Japanese lead roles are played by Shogo Sakata (Johnny) and Yohei Azakami (Gyro), with other voice actors including Kaito Ishikawa as Diego Brando and Rie Takahashi as Lucy Steel.

Steel Ball Run is set in the late 19th century in the United States and tells the story of a transcontinental horse race in which paraplegic ex-jockey Johnny Joestar and the mysterious Gyro Zeppeli fight not only for victory but also for the secret of a mysterious ability. The manga source material was published from 2004 to 2011 and is considered one of the most popular arcs of the entire JoJo series.
