Studio 4°C has revealed details about the new anime adaptation of Osamu Tezuka's manga Phoenix, titled Phoenix: Eden17. The anime is set to be released worldwide on the Disney+ platform on September 13. Additionally, a film version with a different ending, titled Phoenix: Reminiscence of Flower, will premiere in Japan on November 3.

The following cast members have been announced for both the anime and the film version: Honoka Yoshida as Com, Yosuke Kubozuka as George, Rie Miyazawa as Romi, and Issey Ogata as Sudarban.

The creative team for Phoenix: Eden17 includes scriptwriters Katsunari Mano and Saku Konohana, color key artist Yūko Egami, sound director Kōji Kasamatsu, and producer Eiko Tanaka. The anime is directed by Shōjirō Nishimi from Studio 4°C, with Tatsuzou Nishida designing the characters and serving as chief animation director. Shinji Kimura takes on the role of art director, Akiko Saito as technical director and CGI director, and Kengo Shigemura as editor.

Phoenix: Eden17 tells the story of a woman named Romi and her partner, who decide to leave the devastated Earth to start a new life on the planet Eden17. However, the planet is not as habitable as they had hoped, and Romi struggles to survive. According to Osamu Tezuka's official website, the story deals with death, survival, birth, isolation, and longing for Earth.
