Studio Ponoc's short film will be broadcast at the opening of the Olympic Games

The 2020 Olympic Games in Tokyo begin on July 23, and with them come collaborations with the anime world. Among the most anticipated partnerships is the premiere of an animated short film by Studio Ponoc, a small studio formed by former Studio Ghibli staff that previously brought us "Ninokuni."

The project, titled "Tomorrow's Leaves," will be presented during the event's opening ceremony and tells an 8-minute and 27-second story about how the meeting of people from different places paves the way for a better future. In the piece, we meet five envoys from distant lands, each with their own unique abilities, who come together to overcome athletic challenges and protect the world.
