The original anime production "Super Kaguyahime!" will be available exclusively on Netflix worldwide on January 22, 2026. It is the first feature film directorial project by Shogo Yamashita, known for his work on opening sequences for series such as "Jujutsu Kaisen", "Chainsaw Man", and "Urusei Yatsura".

The plot of the music anime is based on the classic tale "The Tale of the Bamboo Cutter" and is accompanied by songs from famous Vocaloid producers. Artists involved include ryo (supercell), known for "Melt", as well as kz (livetune), 40mP, HoneyWorks, Aqu3ra, and yuigot.

The series represents a live entertainment production, shaped by Yamashita's direction. It portrays the stage shows in the dreamlike virtual space "Tsukuyomi" as well as the connection between the girls that arises through their singing performances.

The animation is produced by Studio Colorido in collaboration with Studio Chromat, which is led by director Yamashita. The character designs are handled by Hechima, co-developer of the original character concepts for "Gakuen Idolmaster", and Akihiro Nagae, character designer and Chief Animation Director for "Ame wo Tsugeru Hyouryuu Danchi".

The main roles are cast with Yuko Natsuyoshi as Kaguya, Anna Nagase as Ayeha Sakayose, and Saori Hayami as Yachiyo Tsukimi. A first advance trailer shows Yachiyo Tsukimi, played by Saori Hayami, performing a newly mixed version of "World is Mine CPK! Remix" for the anime. The musical accompaniment of the trailer includes traditional Japanese instruments such as the Shamisen.

A simultaneously released promotional image shows the protagonist Kaguya in traditional Japanese clothing, bowing on a modern concert stage in front of a sea of glow sticks. The slogan "Beyond the fairy tales──" is attached to the image.
