"Suzume no Tojimari" presents itself with a new trailer

Makoto Shinkai's latest film, Suzume no Tojimari, has received a new trailer following its premiere in Japan. The new trailer features the film's theme song "Suzume" by RADWIMPS and Toaka.



The plot of the film is described as follows:

The journey of 17-year-old Suzume begins in a quiet town in Kyushu when she encounters a young man who tells her, "I'm looking for a door." What Suzume finds is a single weathered door standing upright amidst ruins, as if it had been protected from every disaster. Seemingly drawn by its power, Suzume reaches for the knob...

All across Japan, one door after another begins to open, unleashing destruction upon anyone nearby. Souta is known as a "Closer," traveling throughout Japan to shut these doors. As the door opens, the mysterious white cat nicknamed "AristoCat" appears before them. "I love Suzume, but you [Souta] are in the way," with these words, Souta is transformed into Suzume's childhood chair, which she has cherished since she was little. Souta chases the cat as a three-legged chair, and Suzume sprints in panic after Souta. Eventually, they travel together from Kyushu to Shikoku, Kansai, and Tokyo on their journey to close the doors. Along the way, Suzume encounters several people who help her as she helps them. Yet, what awaited her at the end of her journey was a certain long-forgotten truth. Guided by these mysterious doors, Suzume's journey now begins.
